That's It, Folks

As announced on December 18, this was the last post on the Rocking-Byrd and Rocking--Byrd blogs. There will be no new post in 2011.

The blogs will stay up until January 30, 2011, so hurry up if there's something you want to download.

If you come across dead or broken links, please let me know so I can re-upload the files and update the links (that is, until January 25, 2011).

The blogs will be taken down on February 1, 2011.

Many thanks to all those who have supported the blogs during all these years.

Dear Rockingbyrd,
Thank you for all you did for us Byrdmaniax. I downloaded nearly all of your files, but had only time to hear a few of them. It will be a pleasure for the future to hear the rest. I was always surprised which treasures you presented us. I had no chance to see all of the Ex-Byrds in Concert, let alone the "real" Byrds. So any Gene Clark or Clarence White concerts were a real treat. I also liked the comments of your blog-followers; thank you Steve! (And well, I like bluegrass.)
I regrettably did not comment any of your postings. I had no time to hear the music soon enough and I always have some difficulties writing in English. (My last English lesson was back in '71.)
In contrast to some other writers I did not really expect the closing of your blog, even after the pause a year ago. I would really appreciate if you could continue for some time. But I can't complain: This was a lucky time for Byrds aficionados like me and I want to thank you deep from my heart. I wish you all the best for the future. If you ever start anew, please let me know!

Hi Rockingbyrd, I have always marveled at your amazing Byrds collection. I was wondering if you could tell us before you go, if you have any connection to the band or any of it's various members? How many shows do you have and how long have you have been collecting them. Also, what is your all time favorite show and what is your most prized recording? Thanks

Yes, I agree with Rufus!! Would love to know!

I also agree and second harrybyrd. Like him I have downloaded an awful lot here, but with press of time and obligations, rarely get to listen. But what I have listened to has been top-notch, and I have a library of tunes now to keep me going for years to come.

Thanks very much, Rocking-Byrd>> this is like the end of an era!

Well Rockingbyrd, I found something I hadn't downloaded--a group of Gene Parsons demos for 1984, and what a pleasant surprise! There are some very nice songs and arrangements, and his b-bender guitar on Willin' is fantastic. Too bad he didn't write these kinds of songs while he was in the Byrds--Gunga Din is the only standout song in the albums where he appeared. I think I've got the rest of what I want. Once again, thanks for all this music, and I wish you the best, who ever you are. And this is my last comment.

Hey, R--B-
I tried to download the MC&H concert in Sydney in 1978, posted on 8/16/10 but the message came back that the file does not exist. Is it gone but not forgotten?
And in case I don't get the chance later, I want to thank you for your work. You've done a great service for all of us Byrds fans by sharing your collection with us. Thank you very much.

I was at the Byrds Midem Cannes concert in 1972 ! Even if I prefer the first band with Crosby and Hillman the Cannes show was one of the best rock concert I ever saw ! The little Frenchies we were were blown away by the performance of the four musicians . What a pity that such a band don't deserve the recognition of rock critics and of the public because after Beatles,Rolling Stones , Hendrix and Dylan they should be there ! Even their versions of Dylan songs are so much better ...
