Fans of this blog don't seem to like to comment on Roger McGuinn, do they? I've just now listened to this upload, and it's quite nice, with almost half the songs taken from Back From Rio, one his three best albums. In fact, the only solo song is the Ballad of Easy Rider. There's also a version of Love That Never Dies, which appears on the first Byrds boxset and was apparently recorded without Hillman or Crosby. Chestnut Mare and Train Leaves Here This Morning are by McGuinn, Clark and Hillman (much better live than on the CDs) while the rest seem to be with the Headlights, a very good backup band which he toured with to promote Back From Rio. I've always felt McGuinn was better with a group than solo, but that's only based on recordings as I've never seen him in a solo concert. I have seen him with the York Byrds, MCH, and the Band he put together after Peace on You. He has an interesting catalogue of songs, not as extensive as the other original Byrds (except Michael Clarke) but well worth dipping into. From what I've seen, he prefers to stick with old Byrds songs. Well, that's his choice. Thanks for this upload, it's worth listening to more than once.
