The Byrds – Monterey International Pop Festival 1967 - 50th Anniversary (one song)

The Byrds – Monterey International Pop Festival (one song)

Jim McGuinn, David Crosby, Michael Clarke, Chris Hillman

50 years ago today (June 17, 1967), The Byrds performed 8 tracks at the Monterey International Pop Festival:

1. Renaissance Fair
2. Have You Seen Her Face?
3. Hey Joe (Where You Gonna Go)
4. He Was A friend Of Mine
5. Lady Friend
6. Chimes Of Freedom
7. I Know My Rider (I Know You Rider)
8. So You Want To Be A Rock ‘n’ Roll Star

All tracks were officially released, except for track 7. Legend has it that a noisy plane flew over the festival ground when that track was played, and that the resulting sound was horrible.

Now you can judge by yourselves, as here’s track 7 (in comments):

Thank you.
I loved this song by the Byrds and the Dead.
The sound is rough and the plane may not have helped but the thing I noticed most about this track is they rushed it too much, like a few other songs in that set. May be they wanted to get it over with so that Crosby could play with his friends and McGuinn and Hillman could take some time to plan Crosby's firing!

The sound is horrible, but it seems rather sloppily played as well. Hard to tell the plane noise from the tape player noise. But interesting historically, so thanks.
