I haven't heard many of these songs before, and some of them could easily have helped fill an album. While I'm not so crazy about his re-recording of hits like Feel A Whole Lot Better, there is a lot to like here. I wasn't terribly impressed with Firebyrd album, but the recordings with that group here are quite good. I appreciate the Textones material as well. But the real surprise here is the material with Carla Olson. I have their album So Rebellious a Lover, and think it's one of Gene's best albums. Some of the highlights here are Midnight Mission, The Closer You Get, Love is Gonna Come at Last, Del Gato and Jokers are Wild. Thanks for this interesting and enjoyable upload.
