Finally I got to hear the numbers not included in the shortened CD version # Byrds Land in London. It's a pity Gene Clark only got four songs, but he does them well. Chris Hillman's work at this time seems more mainstream rock than on his last 3 albums with the Byrds. His band is fine and he has emerged as a confident performer. But McGuinn's Thunderbyrd steals the show for me, with crisp versions of McGuinn songs and fine musicians, especially Rick Vito on guitar. There's a live version of this playing in Germany, I think, which can be found on Youtube. I highly recommend it. Thanks for this upload, R--B; I thought I'd never hear the whole thing.

Steve, I remember watching the famous Rockpalast Festival in 1977 on German TV WDR1. And to my big surprise, I suddenly saw McGuinn's Thunderbyrd appear! Fortunately, my reel-to-reel tape recorder was hooked and ready so I taped the whole festival, including the Rory Gallagher and Little Feat performances. So I had McGuinn's set decades before it was finally released on DVD and CD. Rick Vito shines on that recording.
