The Byrds – Chester Military College 1970 - UPDATED 2014-02-07

The Byrds –  Chester Military College 1970

Pennsylvania Military College, Chester, PA – December 4, 1970

Roger McGuinn (guitar, vocals)
Clarence White (guitar, mandolin, vocals)
Skip Battin (bass, vocals)
Gene Parsons (drums, banjo, vocals)

Although not mentioned by the file provider, this seems to be one of the joint Byrds / Flying Burrito Brothers concerts. Listen closely to tracks 4, 5 and 6 from set 2.

The Flying Burrito Brothers were:

Chris Hillman, Michael Clarke, Sneaky Pete Kleinow, Bernie Leadon, Rick Roberts.

The last track sounds so different, it probably originates from another concert.

Many thanks again for all the recent
posts.Brilliant! I think that the Burritos stuff is from another gig as there's no evidence they played at this venue together. One of Wolfgangs concerts from Manchester is actually from Canada! We will have to try to investigate some of the dates and venues ! Thanks again

Happy New Year RB ! Thanks again for the show.
I have to reiterate what Kevin said about these shows from The Vault. I have listened to all of them ( partially ) and have matched up dates and venues with the research done by Chris Hjort, and have found that at least 1/3 of these shows are either wrong dates, wrong venues or have something wrong. Dawson must have been bad about labeling his tapes. Thankfully, in most cases, a little research can properly identify the show. Again, many thanks to RB for posting these shows here.

Thanks again Rockingbyrd. It does seem to be a mish-mash of a show. Dinky Dawsons labelling may not have been helped by the era and certain "medicinal herbs"!.

Incidentally, have you the 1971 Sheffield City Hall show?

Thanks again.
