Chris Hillman & Friends – Ebbets Field 1975

Chris Hillman & Friends – Ebbets Field 1975

Ebbets Field, Denver, CO – May 8, 1975 (KDPI Broadcast)

Chris Hillman (guitar, mandolin, lead vocals)
Rick Roberts (rhythm guitar, vocals)
Jock Barkley (lead guitar)
Mark Andes (bass)
Michael Clarke (drums)

This band was assembled by Chris Hillman just after the Souther-Furay-Hillman Band disbanded and just before the release of SHF’s second LP (Trouble In Paradise). Chris became ill during the tour and couldn’t finish the planned concerts. The rest of the band entered the studio to record an album on their own after adding Larry Burnett to the lineup. They christened themselves “Firefall”, and the rest is history.

Interesting set with a few tunes I'm not too familiar with. The vocals and arrangements sound very much like SHF to the point where I expect to hear JD Souther's voice and other points where Chris sounds like JD. This tape is from before the days of computer volume leveling and has some clicks but is fascinating relic. Thanks!
