A fine concert showcasing McGuinn's Back from Rio album and a number of Byrds songs, all played very professionally by McGuinn and one of his best bands, a Florida group called the Headlights. This band seems quite in tune (pardon the pun) with McGuinn's style, and performs all the songs with verve and taste. Their own songs are also quite good, and it's nice that McGuinn gave them a chance to show what they can do on their own at the beginning of the show. The Back from Rio songs are excellent, especially Your Love is a Gold Mine and King of the Hill, where McGuinn does a credible imitation of Tom Petty at one point! Of the Byrds songs, Eight Miles High was a standout. The recording is quite good, although I felt the drums were too strong and the 12-string too weak in volume at points. McGuinn could have produced a fine album with this band, but unfortunately the collaboration didn't last long. Thanks, R--B.
