A very entertaining concert, with fine performances separately and together. This format was followed when I saw MCH in San Diego in 1978, and later by the partially-reunited Byrds (Crosby, McGuinn and Hillman) in their three concerts in California in the late 80s.Both singers put a lot of heart into their solo parts; in particular, Gene's Set You Free This Time was quite moving. McGuinn's Texas sounds like something from his Folk Den and could have been on one of his albums. As a duo, McGuinn and Clark are very good, with fine harmonies and decent acoustic guitar work Particularly interesting is You Showed Me, which has an excellent vocal arrangement, and Eight Miles High, which is very moody. The acoustic solos for the latter song and Crazy Ladies show that McGuinn could be quite interesting as a lead guitarist, even on acoustic guitar. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with how well McGuinn's and Clark's voices blended together, with both taking high harmony at different times. Clark's harmony on the center part of Chestnut Mare is superb. Crosby couldn't have done it better. Thanks for this concert--it was a real pleasure to listen to.

Rockingbyrd, thank you to you and the kind person who shared the McGuinn Clark concert. The show sounds so good and I am psyched to listed to it more this weekend. Hopefully more shows will continue to surface.
I tried to find an ad or poster for this concert but was not successful. I did find two listings for the show in the NY Daily News and the NY Times but both state the concert took place on Friday November 18, 1977 at the Eisner and Lubin Auditorium of NYU's Loeb Student Center, 566 La Guardia Place.

In the Friday November 18, 1977 edition of the NY Daily News, page 123 ("Where It's At - A Guide To The Weekend") the following was listed in Music:

The Acoustics Are Fine: Roger McGuinn and Gene Clark, two former Byrds, will be flying together again tonight on acoustic guitars. They will be playing at the Eisner and Lubin Auditorium of NYU's Loeb Student Center (566 La Guardia Place) starting at 8.
Elliott Murphy, also on acoustic guitar, will open the set. Tickets are priced at $3.50 for students, $5.50 for the public. Dial 598-3757 for ticket information.

Thank you and the contributor for this ! Always great to hear a new show, which despite Crazy Ladies being clipped, shows how great these two were singing together even without Crosby. Really delighted with this so thanks again.

Rufus, thanks for the research you did. You're probably right; the location is as you say and not in Poughkeepsie. My source was wrong; well, I said "probably".

Both locations have "Loeb" in their names hence the confusion.
