A nice surprise. CPR was, in my opinion, a fine band which fit Crosby's style very well. I really like the jazzy feel to many of the songs, and the instrumentation is top-notch. As for the material, it's varied and not just Crosby's, and he puts his own spin on songs like Eight Miles High without mistreating them at all. In fact, his arrangements of familiar songs just show how good these songs were. I especially like the arrangement of Everybody's Been Burned, an old favorite of mine. A small complaint is the backup vocals on Laughing. The original version on Crosby's first album is still the best, though Pevar does a good imitation of Jerry Garcia! Overall, a fine performance of songs which not only reflect Crosby's roots but also how much he grew from them. Thanks.
