The Byrds - Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall Of Fame 1991 (3 songs)

The Byrds - Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall Of Fame 1991

January 16, 1991

Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, David Crosby, Michael Clarke, Chris Hillman

I just realized that the complete three songs they performed at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on January 16, 1991 have never been posted here!

Better late than never, 30 years after the performance.

Not the greatest audio quality and not the greatest playing and singing!

The last time the “original five” played together.

1. Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season) (3:34)

2. Mr. Tambourine Man (3:17)

3. I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better (2:35)

Artwork Included (front, back)

Pretty bad! Some who had never heard the group might question their inclusion in the RRHOF based on the rendition of these three songs. But then again, they didn't practice, Mike Clarke was reportedly drunk, and McGuinn, Crosby and Hillman had just come out of a nasty lawsuit against Mike Clarke for using the Byrds name with another group. Clarke and Clark died not much later due to lifelong substance abuse. I saw a video of Mr Tambourine from this show, and it was embarrassing. Still, this is interesting to have. It is, after all, the very last time all five played together. So thanks.

Bad , to be sure, but think we need to cut them some slack. They didn't rehearse, and they had not played together since 73. The only 2 who played their instruments were Hillman & McGuinn, along with the House Band. Mike was plastered, and Gene was having trouble singing due to ongoing dental issues. To their credit, in spite of some "issues", they all got up there together, unlike Creedence and many others. Something to be said for that, and we got the photos of the Five Byrds together for the last time.
