Journals is a 9 CD (4 double CDs and 1 single CD) set housed in a 12” x
12” golden metallic box.
The Byrds in the Columbia studios, playing and singing multiple versions
of tracks from their first 3 albums (“Mr. Tambourine Man”, “Turn Turn Turn” and
“Fifth Dimension”) and of tracks from these sessions that weren’t officially
released until the remastered CDs came out in the 90s.
Vol. 9 is a compilation of tracks from the 8 other CDs.
A further double CD, titled “Lost Studio Series”, was later released by
another label, with all known outtakes not on this 9 CD box. It also contained
outtakes from the 4th LP (“Younger Than Yesterday”) and a couple of
other oddities from the same era. It was posted here some time ago.

This was a great set, as was the follow up. Too bad more weren't forthcoming. I read these were the master tapes stolen from Columbia's tape library. The sound is impeccable.
