this is a great set: I've had it for a while. Lots of good stuff that's been left off other compilations. now if somebody could only find the tape for "Milestones".......
An interesting listen for those who, like me, enjoy hearing works in progress as well as the finished versions. The instruments-only tracks are especially interesting by focusing the listener's attention on the mix of the instruments, the evolving introductions, the intricate play between McGuinn and Crosby, the different bass lines tried, and the somewhat inconsistent drumming--and all that in the Thoughts and Words takes alone. While these recordings are not the kind you can listen to very often, I appreciate these recording both for their historical value as well as their musical value. Thanks for making them available to the Old Faithful.
