One of the best solo Gene Clark shows ever. Some rarely played songs in the set list.

Gene Clark is many peopĺe's favorite Byrd, and while I appreciate all the various members' contributions, Gene was obviously the best Byrds composer, and his departure was felt. His solo albums are a varied lot, but always with memorable compositions. This concert, around the time of his Byrds tribute concerts, represent the best and worst of Gene Clark as a solo performer. How many times does he say 'I forgot' or 'I don't remember' as he goes through some of his most representative songs? If he doesn't remember the lyrics, then why perform the song? He often comes across as as unprofessional and disrepectful of his audience, which didn't come to hear partial songs. Yet he does provide good performances, such as on Silver Raven and Fair and Tender Ladies. The problem with Gene Clark was always substance abuse, and his concerts often were affected by this. This concert illustrates his irregular performances quite clearly. He is hit and miss here, and can only have satisfied the most diehard fans. Thanks for this concert--all Gene Clark uploads are welcome.

I would humbly disagree with some of what Steve says. I had the good fortune to attend a number of Gene Clark shows ( solo & with bands ), and he was always the utmost professional, and never disrespectful of his audiences, actually quite the contrary, even when they were small. During his solo shows, people would often ask for requests, and Gene would try to accommodate them, but often admitting that he didn't remember the song , as with most performers, a lot of songs are recorded and forgotten, and not part of their regular play list.
I guess we can all have our opinions in regards to Gene.
