This band, led by two ex-Byrds, was originally known as the Byrds Tribute band--here, the announcer casually calls them the Byrds. This raises a problem--who are the Byrds? Here's a group with a founding member and a hired hand who lasted a short time in a lineup with only one original member. Gene Clark plays it a little safe, using songs sung by Roger McGuinn with only a couple of non-Byrds songs. Christine sounds like the Everly Brothers, while Mary Sue sounds like, well, Gene Clark, post-Byrds. The rest of the songs sound like a Byrds tribute, with John York taking the pats of both McGuinn and Crosby, and doing a good job at both, it must be said. In the end, it all sounds good, once you get past the Byrds identity problems of this time. Gene Clark is always interesting to listen to, even in such doubtful projects as this one. Thanks RB for providing this.
