Great post! Thank you very much
After two not particularly successful solo albums, Roger formed a band and tried to develop a new group sound. I saw this band around 1975 and they were very competent, although I did not like their high harmonies very much. I was also disappointed in the album, especially with the inclusion of Lover of the Bayou and Born to Rock 'n' Roll. The album tanked, if I remember right, and that was the end of Roger McGuinn and Band.
This concert clearly shows the band's strengths and weaknesses. The musicianship is very good, and the electric piano adds much to the sound. But the background vocals are very inconsistent, especially on the higher harmonies. The band also provided some compositions, but on the whole they don't stand out. In the end, after listening to this pleasant post, one gets the impression that this was basically a one-shot tour band, and if so, they did what they had to do. Thanks for providing this upload, R--B.
